Tasks and calendar

Any checklist item in Folevi is a task. Give it a date, time and priority, find it in Today, Tasks and the Calendar, and add tasks with Quick Add.

Updated

Any checklist item is a task. Give it a due date (and optionally a time and a priority) and it appears in Today on that day, and in Tasks alongside every other open task in your Personal (or the workspace you’re in). Overdue tasks show up there too, so nothing slips quietly past.

The Calendar shows dated tasks by day. Quick Add (⇧⌘A) saves a task straight into your Inbox page, so it always lives somewhere you can find it.

Task views

  • Inbox: tasks without a due date.
  • Today: tasks due today, and overdue ones.
  • Upcoming: tasks with a date after today.
  • All: every open task.
  • Completed: done and canceled tasks.
  • My Tasks: tasks assigned to you in a workspace.

A task can also have an assignee (in a workspace) and a reminder. At the reminder time, Folevi adds a notification.

Calendar

The Calendar has three layouts, and remembers the one you last used on each device.

  • Month: every dated task on a month grid. Drag a task to another day to move it; its time stays the same.
  • Week: Monday to Sunday, with an all-day row for tasks that have a date but no time, and an hour grid where timed tasks sit at their time. Drag a task to a time to set the date and time (in half-hour steps), or to the all-day row to keep just the date. On a phone you see three days at a time.
  • Agenda: the next 30 days as a list, with anything overdue at the top.

Every move can be undone from the message that appears. Tasks without a date are listed under the calendar, ready to drag onto a day.

Other calendars

You can show events from another calendar beside your tasks, read-only. Copy the calendar’s iCalendar link (it usually ends in .ics and may start with webcal://; Google Calendar calls it the secret address in iCal format), then choose Calendars in the Calendar, paste the link, give it a name if you like and pick a color. You can subscribe to up to 20 calendars.

Events appear in the month, week and agenda layouts with their calendar’s color and no checkbox, since they aren’t tasks. Select one to see its time, place and notes. To change an event, change it in the app it comes from: Folevi checks each calendar about once an hour, for two weeks after you last opened the Calendar, and whenever you choose Refresh. If a calendar can’t be loaded, Calendars says why, and the events from the last good check stay. Rename, recolor or remove a calendar there too, or turn its switch off to hide its events for a while. That choice is saved to your account, so it follows you to your other devices.

Only links to public web addresses work; links to private or local networks are refused.

Collections on a calendar

A collection can also have a Calendar view (choose it from + View, or insert one with /calendar). It places each row on a month grid by one of the collection’s date properties, picked in the view’s settings. Select a row to open its page, drag it to another day to change its date, or use the plus on a day to add a row dated that day. Rows without a date wait in the No date tray below the month; drag a row there to clear its date.
